Greetings,

I have a SLR-105 that I want to add an optical side mount  and handguard rail system. I  don't want a kit that will decrease the value of the rifle or ruin its appearance.

What is the suggested type of materials for handguards and why?  All recommendations appreciated !!

Thanks in Advance!

1) Polymer. Inexpensive, easy to modify (Dremel) to fit if required, slow heat transfer. Potential to melt under excessive heat.

2) Metal. More expensive, slightly more difficult to modify, faster heat transfer, but also more durable, and won't melt under excessive heat. Most metal systems also provide more rails, and therefore more mounting options.

HTH!
