I was test firing an AMD65 clone built on an Ohio Ordnance receiver. In one thirty round magazine, I had this happen four times: bolt forward and locked, round chambered, trigger stuck back. WTF? I don't even see how this is possible. Once a round is in the chamber, the trigger is reset; there doesn't seem to be any way for the trigger to hang up.

Any ideas?

Did you check the tails on the spring to see if they lay right on the back of the trigger?

No, I didn't. I took it back to the shop and looked it over and everything looked functional. I couldn't induce the same failure by working the bolt.

As it turns out, that's what was wrong. The springs were bent incorrectly, and were jumping off the trigger.

Glad the keyboard gunsmithing worked out; thanks for the feedback!

Mine does the same thing, and those dang tails are sittin on that trigger just like they are supposed to.

I think mine is getting caught on the disconnector, you can push the trigger forward with your finger and you hear a 'click', then it will operate.  I tried some light sanding between these parts, no luck yet though... anyone got any ideas?

If the shepards hook is not laying right in the retention groove of a fcg pin, the pin may out a hair, not enough to fall out but no longer squared to the rec and let the fcg disorient. If the shallow hook groove is holding the pin on the rec instead of the larger radius of the pins outer edge, that may do it.

Not that I botched both the spring and hook on my hurried AMD63 so it locked up mid-mag at a plate match with others watching..."hey, aren't you an AK board mod?"

Check the clearance for the trigger in the rec. too. Sometimes the trigger rubs enough to make it stick a little. It's more noticeable with weaker hammer springs and also weaker disconnector springs.
