hey guys, It seems that just recently my SAR2 wants to slamfire after about a full magazine. Now, I know that AKs & SKSs are prone to slamfire when they get really dirty, but mine will do it after I clean it. It doesn't slam too bad, The most I seen is 3 round burst(kindda cool, but the rangemaster didn't think so). I'm using Russian fmj ammo. The stuff that comes in white 25rnd boxes & says its "made to hunting specifications." The rifle is 3 years old & has less than 1000 rnds through it.. Just wanted some input from you guys. Have any of you had a similar problem? Should I perhaps get a RSA trigger to correct this? Or perhaps the ammo? I do keep my weapon clean. Maybe thats it? Any info would be helpful. Thanks in advance guys.. |

Hey msh, No crud in the firing pin channel. I took a closer look at my fcg & noticed that if I hold the trigger just right, the hammer will slip between the disconnectors! So if you fire a round, then let up on the trigger to reset, the damn thing fires again! guess i might need a new FCG after all.... BTW. thanx for the link, Great site! |

Good troubleshooting Gunny. Now that you've isolated the problem in the FCG is there anything there not kosher? How about the disconnector spring? Is it there and functioning? And make sure the trigger and hammer axis pins are fully inserted and locked by the shepherd's hook. You may just replace your FCG, my Gordon Tech has worked just fine, but it would be good for our little library of knowledge here to know just what bit you. Good Luck. |

Glad it is being sorted out for you. White box some of the old Ulyonsk ammo? 2 main choices, RSA for adjustable and ultimate feel at $80, or InRange's special offer of Gordon sets for $30 shipped. Rangemasters are one thing, try explaining your new SAR1's stutter fire to police practicing on the adjacent line... |
