We bought 2 SARs today (1 & 3) at a gunshow and my friend's 1 has a gas piston that someone apparently forgot to pin in place! No, I am not talking about loose (that's normal). This thing will turn 4 or 5 rotations! It goes from full finger-tight to "about to fall out". You see, there does not appear to be a pin holding it in place. What give? How to fix? One side of carrier is drilled; should we drill firther into the piston and thread in a grub screw? Send to Global for a newly installed US piston? Thanks in advance for your thoughts on this. CBR

I'm sure that someone who has installed a gas piston will be along to fill you in.  I have not but I do know that there are no screws involved and when done right the piston has a bit of wiggle.
You might try posting this on the Build It Yourself
section, maybe more traffic there.

My SAR1 was the same, and I screwed it in all the way, backed out a turn, and set after I had cleaned and applied Locktite. That was several cases and a few smoked handguards ago, and it is still set.
