I've been away from firearms for awhile due to recall but now that I am back home, I'm trying to get an old Maadi RPM to function properly.  The rifle shoots accurate by AK standards but does jam alot.  What happens is after a round is fired(not everytime but often) a round is failed to eject. I notice that while the spent round is still in the chamber, the bolt does not cover it fully.  I'm not sure how to correct this problem but any ideas would be gratly appreciated.

I like to get the old girl working good as I am gong to install some very nice Soviet RPK plum stocks and refinish the rifle.  Currently have redstar arms trigger group, not yet installed, but dong that later today.

Most likely cause is a bad extractor spring.

Number 2 is a bad extractor itself.

Please let us know how this turns out, what you did to fix it and what happened.  For the database.

Thanks fors the help folks.  I checked out the bolt and after comparing the bolt(Maadi) to my SLR95 bolt, I notice that the extractor on the maadi is definitely hosed.  I will be ordering a new extractor and while I'm at it, getting a new spring just for added measurement.
