New to Ak's but been playing with and building Ar's for some time. Today I took out my safety on my c39v2 and found this wire aka Shepards Crook inside, 1st time that I've noticed it. Now trying to figure out how to get it back in, 1st couple times resulted in most of the pins falling out. Then after about an hour of frustration I found a YouTube video, explaining how to correctly install it. For those that need it.

They do indeed suck. After a few rounds with it, I decided not to eat out for lunch one day and bought the retaining plate. No more headaches.

No need to thank me,

The RSA retainer is well worth the money, but it is cheaper if you buy from the manufacture.

I prefer the wire over plates. But if you use a plate, check to see if your axis pins are rotating.
