| I know this topic has been covered and its my inclination to just get Copes to replace my barrel but I ordered the Holiday kit Copes has for the AK-74 and the kit is great. I put the gun together since Monday but I dont like the Barrel fit... It didnt take any pressing in to the trunion it was I think alittle to easy to fit in.. I was positioning the barrel with a Rubber mallet making sure it was lined up and everything was alright and straight when I noticed that I could simply tap it in with the Mallet into position with some resistance but not near what the other three AK-47 builds I have already done....I think Im just going to get the barrel replaced but in all fairness Im looking for Ideas if any one else has had this problem and what became of your answer... Thanks ahead of time |
| Ill reply to my own post... I took care of the problem by Knurling the barrel with a spring loaded center punch... I printed some self adhesive lables on the computer with dots about 1/32 apart in a square pattern but offset and taped it to the barrel and center punched each dot till I covered the area where the barrel touched the trunnion and then used permanate loctite on before pressing it in and let it sit for more than a day.... It took some pressure to get the barrel in so I know im on the right track and the loctite serves to hold in place... Have shot about 20 rounds to test the fit and still holding up... Only time will tell..... |
