I recently obtained one of those inexpensive century bulgarian ak 74's from cfs. The gun looks great but I have noticed one big problem. When pulling the charging handle all the way back the gun locks up. I took the top cover off to see where the problem was and it seems that the left rail on the reciever is coming out of the groove on the bolt carrier. It seems that the spring tension on the hammer is causing the hammer to push upward on the bolt carrier causing it to come dislodged. I have not had a chance to fire the weapon yet but fear that it will only fire one shot at a time. I plan on testing that theory tomorrow. Has anyone else had this problem? Is this something that will break in over time? Is an issue between the nds reciever and tapco fcg or was the reciever cut out of spec? Would limiting the travel of the bolt with a buffer fix this?

I will post pics as soon as i can. Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Try shooting it first, if it causes a problem a buffer normally fixes it.
If you can't get it fixed send it back for them to fix.
Don't go grinding or messing with it that may void the warranty.

Mine will lock up a bit if I pull the handle all the way back and ride it forward slow.
If I pull it back and let the handle go, no problems.

Shoots and functions fine.
