PSL experts I need your help.
I purchased this PSL a few days ago and took the time to clean her up nice and go over everything before taking it out to the range today. Before going out I tried to cycle the bolt with a few rounds by hand and the ammo was feeding ok but the bolt would not go in to full battery or it would but it would get stuck and I would have to gently tap the charging handle with a rubber mallet to eject the cartridge. I only attempted this once since it’s very dangerous to do this and I did not want a round going off. So I did some research online about this and I am not sure I have seen anyone with this problem, most said any sticking went away after 40 or so rounds at the range. So I went to the range today and fired off 80 rounds and the problem still exists most of the time. I say this because some times it would lock up and everything was fine but most of the time there was a gap. Now here is my question is this how these guns are supposed to operate? This is my first PSL so I am not sure what’s going on here. I know that most of the time the bolt goes in to battery but the part that has the charging handle on it does not move all the way forward it leaves a gap and I am afraid that one day it wont fully lock the bolt and risk injuring myself or others. Also by staying open like this the gas plunger does not seat all the way down so I am sure I am loosing some gas as a result. I tried 3 different types of ammo, 2 surplus and some wolf all 150g or smaller ball. The gun is very accurate at 100 yards as you can see below. Here are a few pictures to help you understand what’s going on. Here is my target as you can see not bad for a fewr rounds. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c280/nuv22/DSC03488-1.jpg Here is what the gap looks like http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c280/nuv22/DSC03489.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c280/nuv22/DSC03490.jpg here is the inside with the bolt fully unlocked as a reference http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c280/nuv22/DSC03492-1.jpg here is where it stops most of the time http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c280/nuv22/DSC03493.jpg and here fully closed http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c280/nuv22/DSC03494.jpg also i had to manually hold it open since it only does this when its loaded. when its empty there is no problems or sticking. thanks for your help in advance! |

My PSL was so bad, I honestly thought it had a bolt hold open. I had to grind and file on the Hammer a bit. It would snag the bolt and slow it down enough to cause ejection problems and the mentioned Bolt Hold Open simulator.
So, you might take a look at that. I also had a couple bag mags that were causing wicked nasty double feeds. Once I got the Hammer thing adn the bad mags sorted out, gun runs reliably. Now, if I could just get it to pattern better than a shotgun, I'll be getting somewhere. |
