I took my Yugo underfolder to teh range last week for the rifst time and every now and then the holt would hole open inbetween shots, I could pull back on the bolt, release it and it would go into battery and I could fire a few more rounds before it would happen again. I took it back to the range today and it's doing the same thing, sometimes I can fire a full mag through it without any problems and sometimes it'll do this 4-5 times in a row.

Any ideas? I'm an AK newb so be gentle

Where did you get yours?  I got mine from Century I had a similar issue with my Yugo and contacted Century. They sent me a return # and I sent it to them. They fixed it no cost and I had it back in within 2 weeks. Shoots fine now.

Have you tried pulling the bolt back by hand with the cover off and see if it will hang up?

That's what the pics show.

It seems to be hanging up on the hammer, when I pull the bolt over the hammer there's a noticeable bump and *click* when the bolt it on top of the hammer, seems to me that the hammer is rising up just enough to put some upward pressure on the bottom of the bolt not letting it go forward. I have video but I'm having trouble getting it off of my cell phone.

When it sticks open, can you just bump the carrier forward into battery or do you have to pull back on it and let it go?

If you can bump it forward, I would take a look at the top of the hammer where it strikes the carrier. You can stone the contact portion of both the hammer / carrier to smooth the transition. Could also be a weak recoil spring.

If it is new, it may just need to be broken in. I have a kit build that would hang up on the hammer when manually cycling the action but never bad enough to grab it while firing.

My AMD63 with G2 fcg did that, until I wiped it dry humped/racked it a few hundred times, oiled, then it ran fine.

Try replacing recoil spring (if you have a buddy with AK, try his/hers on your gun)
