While I hate NY's ridiculous state ban, its not worth losing everything just to have a few features on a rifle.  Thus, those of us that want a non-neutered rifle are forced to pay market premiums for pre-bans.  I have been looking for years for an affordable underfolder and finally found one.  Of course, given ammo prices, I won't be shooting it for awhile... at least not much

Not the best pic, but my friend who is storing it for me is lucky he can take a picture, much less a good one.  I've been traveling a lot for work lately and he has been baby sitting my collection, and no doubt molesting it.  I hope to get to play with it soon, he tells me its a blast... literally.

Perfect candidate for an "AK Original Configuration Makeover."  You'll have a blast getting it back to it's original state if that's what you plan to do.

Maybe I am mistaken, but that appears to be a Romanian drum not a Chinese drum.

+1

def Romy or Russian in design.

Chinese are flat, and dont sit at an angle like that.

But anyhow, nice UF.  I got same type here in New Yorkistan..though mine is original config.

I honestly dont recall, I had two Romy drums, one was from a buddy of mine in Misissippi...other was from someone online but they ended up getting the drum back like 2 weeks later.  forgot the reason...

Now I just have a 75rnd Chinese drum.... love it.  Too bad its $$$$ to fill!!! Like a SUV of the AK world!

Raptor22 gave me the name of somebody who is supposed to do amazing work.  The underfolder messed up the lower handguard pretty good, deep indentations from the flip down butt.  The pistol grip is in pretty good shape, it is wood and has checkering on it, not like the solid grips on the photos others have posted.  Not sure if it is the original wood or not, I'm not really up on those things.  I mainly wanted an underfolder because it was so non-PC.  Would have been nice to be able to get a $400 Yugo, but this is the best we can hope for in NY.  A much better rifle than the Yugos for sure, but twice the beans!

I'll likely have the wood refinished and then save it for if I ever sell the rifle.  Don't want to regouge the lower handguard.

aside from building a Yugo UF and welding it open or closed...you can always get a preban Michell Yugo UF...though itll set ya back probably $1800.

a wee bit over the $400 budget but, their nice!

well I have my $800 Norinco... so let's call it splitting the difference

Someday I'll leave this state and go where such distinctions are archaic, until then, paying twice as much for the same fun!

I looooooove NY!
