Hello my local shop has a nice used Bulgie circle 10 AK74 for 399.00 made by Hesse(sp?)
It has the bayo nut chopped off and the brake is welded on but I don't care and the bore looks nice.Does anyone have any exp. with these rifles or Hesse in general?
Thanks

I have no first hand experience with Hesse guns - but the reputation they have is not very great.  My local shop advises... if you are looking for an AK type rifle, buy anything BUT a Hesse.  They aren't the only one I've heard similar noise from.  Since the buzz was universally bad (haven't heard anything good so far) I never bought one to try for myself.

Wasn't Hesse the numnut company that welded the trunions to the receivers?  Or at least attempted to with several of them coming apart later in the new owners' hands.

I wouldn't buy a Hesse unless it were priced crazy low and you are prepared to work on it a bunch.

I agree with the above.  Definately a bottom of the barrel AK.

It would depend on whether it's actually a Hesse rifle or just a Hesse receiver.   The receivers themselves were supposed to have been tolerable.   Even if someone else did build it right however, that Hesse name on it is going to lower it's value considerably.
