| Hello again, I bought a Tapco O.D. buttstock for my Chinese AK. I put it one last night. I had to file, sand and shape it to fit (stamped reciever.) Finally I got tired of sanding so I pounded (I know I'm a dumb ass) the buttstock in until it fit reasonably well. Unfortunatley, the stock is canter off to the right, which puts my sighting allignment off. Question, is there any way to heat the plastic and bend the stock? There is no way this stock is comming of cause it is pressure fitted in for life. Thanks ahead of time for your responses. |

Nope. Not that I've ever seen. IMHO buy another stock, put the one you have in a vice and pull like hell on the gun to yank it off your Fubar'ed stock. In my experience the polymer will melt before it bends. What you'll wind up with is a stock that isn't just crooked, but melted all over the back of your gun too. That'll be fun for some gunsmith to clean up for you. LOL |

You could possibly shim it with thin aluminum stock cut to fit the side you ground too much off. Add as many pieces necessary to square the stock in the reciever. You may need to shim both sides depending on how much was taken from each side. A bit of trial & error will be needed. It may be necessary to square the tongue on the stock so that your shims hold the stock square. You can pry the the stock loose on most AKs by prying with a screw driver against the tang where the stock tongue is exposed. this will not damage anything. |
