I recently ordered an Arsenal 3-piece FCG for my WASR-10. Is this a PITA to change out? What should I be careful of? Will I destroy my shepard's hook in the process? I read somewhere that you could make the replacement plate for the wire hook by cutting up a radial saw blade and shaping it with a dremel....   Thanks

Most of us just use the Red Star Arms retainer plate as it saves time and hassle and makes the installation a couple second process.  E-clips are used also by some.

Thanks for the help. After doing some research I was pretty nervous about the shepards crook, I didn't order a replacement plate. I just thought "screw it", and charged it. I got lucky with putting the crook back in, I think, gave me absolutely no trouble. Total time from removing cover to putting it back on was 25 mins. The trigger feels a million percent better, I can't wait to NOT feel trigger slap and see how much more quickly I can put rounds down-range. Being somewhat new to guns I really have no clue about the inner-workings of guns, besides field-stripping. I installed a Volquarsten sear in my Rem 597 yesterday to the same satisfaction. This site has been really helpful, not just technical but helped sell a rifle as well. I'll be making a membership purchase ASAP
