Just wondering if you guys build these to be authentic looking or do you try for the most accuracy you can get. Reason being i love the original look of all the ak types. But i found that on 1 build i have, it likes a naked muzzle. I got a group about the size of a half dollar with nothing on the muzzle. This is a smooth sided Yugo with a romak type stock. I tried 4 different type muzzle devices the other day. I tried 2 different usa ak74 type brakes. Groups opened up about 4 to 6 inches at 50 mtrs. 1 was a pleasure to shoot it smoothed out the rcoil, very noticable. Grouped just right of aim. Next a slant brake, grouped just left of aim. Tried a tantal brake group dropped 1 foot and opened up abit more, And last was another 74 type hit 2 feet below target. I also have a standard fixed Yugo and it seems to kick abit more. Looks cool but thinking maybe butt stock might be the issue.

I have my AK's built for reliability and authenticity, then adjust the sights so POI = POA.  With cheap ammo, my least accurate AK will keep 30rds within an 8" circle at 100m.  My most accurate will do the same within a 4" circle.  That's good enough for me.

If I want to shoot cloverleafs, I use another rifle.

+1

The design is intended to knock down a man sized target at 200 yards or closer and be controllable in full auto fire.  As a matter of Soviet military doctrine, anything farther away is for the T-55s to engage.  Asking for more accuracy than that is like asking a UPS Truck to race at Laguna Seca.  You're asking the tool to do something it was never designed for.
