I am trying to select my next AK, here are my finalists and want your opinions on which to choose. I prefer a wood stock,, 1.Vector
                                                        2.Polish Tantal
                                                        3. AKR Russian Classic from Atlantic Arms
this one is on a receiver from Saiga,Izmash
                                                         and is more expensive.
Is the added $250 worth it to step up to the Russian? Please give you opinions on this purchase....

I want a VEPR-K in the worst way but can't stop myself from buying kits and parts long enough to save the dough

Personally, I think the Russian "Classic" is not a classic at all.  I wouldn't drop the dough for that one.  The Tantal or Vector would be a good choice, but they're apples and oranges.  Given the caliber differences, I would go with the Tantal.  I love the 5.45x39 cartridge.

Right now, 7.62 is about 30% more expensive than 5.45, but who knows how things will be in the future. The cheap 5.45 is corrosive, however, so you won't be able to just throw the gun in a closet without cleaning it.

5.45 surplus mags a are a little cheaper than 7.62 surplus mags right now as well.

The 5.45 guns a little more accurate and have lighter recoil. They also shoot nearly as flat as 5.56 guns.

The 7.62 round is more common here and is still a light recoiling round.

I picked up my Vector UF yesterday from the FFL.  I'm very pleased.  Going to the range tomorrow
