Has anyone ever thought of or tried putting an ultra accurate barrel like one of the Noveske barrels they talk about over on the AR-15 board on an AK?  I have a few AK's, but I have never got into putting a kit together or anything like that, so I was wondering if it could be done?  Just a thought, but say you had a milled firing line .223 receiver could you perhaps mate it with a Noveske .223 barrel?  Could you make an ultra accurate AK?

I daresay it's not so much the barrel as it is the loose tolerances in the action.  If you could start from scratch with tight clearances on everything, it might help.

And if you tighten up the clearances enough to make it very accurate it won't be reliable.
You could save yourself a lot of trouble and purchase an AR.

Otherwise, if you snug up the chamber you still have to re-do the clunky action and work around the bridge-like gas tube killing the bbl float (see Dragunov system).

IMHO the Sig 556, SAM5 and VEPR are the practical limit of AK74 accuracy
