I recently purchased a Romanian AK. I have had AK's in the past but I have never tried to remove the wood handguard on the gas tube cover. Not sure how to complete the task. Any help would be appreciated.

Go slow on putting it back in also and maybe some bar soap on the ends to smooth the way.
