It was about 50 some degrees out today in Central IA, so I tought better get out there in see if MY 106F is the POS everone says they are. When i bought the rifle even my rep. at Lew Horton was worried. I only bought 1 clear 30 rounder from them, since they were out of black. I did however get my SLR106 before the price hike. I did not get the rail version tho since this is my new super close range urban rifle(its replacing a 16" FAL for that job).

When I got the rifle I was somewhat disappointed with the finish on it. But i really liked the weight of this new weapon and was thinking I made the right choice to add more 5.56 rifles to the line up. The mags are nice!! I kinda like the clear 30 rounder and after I test the black 30s I have on order , I may order more clear. The side folder is nice also but short for my large frame. Having owned several tube style folders and a few under folder rifles this folder is a much better design IMO(tho slighly bulkier). Blance is toward the front because of the 74 style brake and the thin pistol grip provided with the rifle.

When i got to the range I set up at about 100 meters and got ready to test. The first 5 round group was with 50 grain Vmax bullet ultramax thru the 5 round mag. No jams and a nice 2-3 inch group. The next 2 groups were with 62 grain AE Federal FMJ loads and they printed 3.2. The rifle has a 1:7 and thought it would like heavy stuff so I tried some 69 grain fed gold match. Perfect 2.4 group!!! With some load devolpment I'm sure a great load could be found but I didn't get this rifle for those groups LOL. BTW my windedge was right on from the start.

Now for the fun stuff I loaded up to 28 rounds and let a few mags go as fast as the sight picture was there(which was fast BTW thanks 74 brake). The rifles recoil impulse is nice compared to all the 308s I have had. If the trigger were better this rifle would be a 90% perfect design for my needs(no BHO loses some % IMO).

More fun stuff my 7 year son and 8 year daughter loved the rifle and i like that they could pull GROUPS yes GROUPs. Now they were 10 inch but in my eyes they were as good as my PSS shoots

Cedar Falls/Waterloo I normaly use a privite range but i didn't have time to drive there. I don't like to take guns like these to pulic ranges. I once had Sig AMT and man i hated taking that to the range not to be a snob, but i had shooting to do and I just got so many questions.

Man I really need to get my 106F out and see how it shoots.  I bought it in October and have not had the chance to shoot it.  I normally shoot on my property, but that is where I hunt also, so I may have to wait until the new.  I hope mine does as well as hmtemt's did.

Thanks.
Try without the brake, if smaller groups w/o, use teflon tape to snug it up.
