I bought this a few weeks ago. I added a Romanian folding stock and a Red Star Arms SAR-3 hammer. The addition of the new hammer caused it to be a single stage trigger. I reworked the disconnector for trigger slap and to bring back the 2-stage trigger: now its very smooth. I took it to the range today and shot 100 rounds of Barnaul 62 grain FMJ through it, using both Weiger and bakewhatever mags. No malfunctions of any kind. I was actually able to hit a 12" steel plate 25% (1:4 shots) at 300 yards, using those lousy sights. Muzzle flash was a hoot too. I am not adding a muzzle device. I like the flash. It has less recoil than my lightweight CAR-15. I am still deciding which handguard to use. Both look good to me.  or  This sure is much less costly than another AR-15! |

Nice gun and range report . My first SAR 3 shot so good I recently picked up another one. Both of mine have the Romanian push button side folder which is very comfortable to shoot with. Due to the .223 chambering as my friends WASR with the same stock gets uncomfortable after a few clips. I recently installed the Red Star hammer in both just as a precaution. A very viable alternative to the Arsenal .223 rifles for a lot less coin. |
They both are push-buttons and straight off receiver. |
