Okay, here's the plan.

Buy a used AK in 7.62 x 39 (common parts / caliber with current Vector UF).
Threaded muzzle so as to be able to install a Vortex flashider.
Want "dimples" for no/reduced mag wobble, so WASRs are out.
Optics rail with Kobra optical site mounted low over receiver cover.
Warsaw length polymer buttstock.  TDI or similar forearm with capability to mount a light (and possibly a VG).
Bulgarian waffle mag(s).
Assemble it all and send to Lauer or other 'smith that can do Dura-Coat in either ACU or Woodland camoflague.
Add a green sling.

Whatta ya'll think?  Would an SAR-1 fit my requirements if it had an optics rail?  I've seen a couple on the EE that didn't have a threaded muzzles so I wonder.  And for the purists, this is in addition to the "stock" Vector UF I have already and the wood-stocked Vector I'm dealing on now, so I don't need no crap.

SAR1 would probably be the least expensive way to go. I've got a Mak90 I did with an A2 fh, collapsible stock. I want to put a railed forward hand guard on so I can mount a vert grip and optic. I've got a few standard original AK's so I can play with this one and if I decide I don't like it I can always change it back.
