Just my .2 cents. If you were thinking buying the Valmet .308 I would think twice. From what I read on the boards getting a Valmet .308 mag is next to impossible. If you were able to find one they run about $100 to $200 dollars and people are still snatching them up. Neverless you can never say never because you may be able to find one or have someone modify an exsiting .308 mag to make it work. ASG |

Eagle You are correct in that the model is a m77b2....a steal for 1K. It has a HD stamped RPK receiver (stamped AK47 on side), with a reinforced trunion. Factory night sights and a 3 position adj gas selector like an FAL. Factory mags with 3 ridges are the best (aftermarket have 2). M14 mags can be converted with a little work. They are pretty rare.....around 400 prebans imported, not sure about postbans. Accuracy is in the same class as the SVD / NMD 86......sub 2" with SA battle packs. A correct factory scope can be found here. www.p-a-distributing.com ![]() |

Thanks guys...you are all a wealth of information here, glad I came to these boards. Learning more about these AK's every day. I appreciate your help. Yeah ASG, heard about the trouble getting mags for the Valmet...too bad, such a beautiful rifle. Been looking for mags for for around 6 months now, but no luck. All the threads say the same thing as what you are saying. I don't want a rifle without mags, and don't want the hassle with finding them, so I am going to buy the Yugo. Hey Smoken44...thanks for the model confirmation without a picture ( I will post a picture this Wednesday, when I get back into town ). Will it be hard to get rid of that ugly thumbhole stock on the Yugo and replace it with a pistol grip stock ? Does anyone know where I can find a pistol grip stock kit for the Yugo ? Also, what do meaan by " RPG " receiver ? I always thought the milled receiver was better. Again, appreciate all your responses, and I will definitely post of picture of my first AK this Wednesday. Thanks guys. |
