Hello all, some friends and I took an AK out shooting for the first time a few days ago and tried bump firing... I'm going to say that it's more difficult then it looks as we could only pull off bursts of 3 or 4. One thing that got our attention was that it jammed only when bump firing and not when we were shooting regularly... does this happen to you guys too? is there anything I might be able to tweak to fix this problem? thanks |

Without a better description of what "jammed" means, a diagnosis is tough. Most likely, the trigger was getting released before the bolt was fully closed, resulting in light strikes ? If so, this is a technique thing, not a rifle problem. DISCLAIMER: I don't bump fire nor do I condone the practice - I bought Class 3 for a reason. Just trying to help. |
Who the hell asked you? |
| What is there to condone or not condone? You're just using a tool they way you see fit. Bump firing is perfectly legal. The national firearms act is unconstitutional anyway. I tried bump firing, and my ak didn't jam. It might be the magazines, or maybe you didn't push the rounds back all the way into the magazine when you loaded it. Usually ak's never jam. Mine hasn't jammed yet, with 1000 rounds through it. |
I'm wondering the same thing. He must be a LEO or a Lawyer. He must think you will sue him if you shoot yourself bumpfiring. How can you not condone the practice of bumpfiring? Not everyone lives in a state that allows full auto, nor can everyone afford it, or they have higher priorities. Bumpfiring (when done in a safe location in a safe manner) is very fun to do. To Endil, I haven't had one jam with my SA M-7 in over 1K rounds bumpfired. |

I don't condone the ownership of Class 3 - I bump fire for a reason. Better box up your class 3 rifle and send it to me. Seriously though, if your AK jams at all, ever, there must be something wrong. Try using non ribbed-back magazines. Also check out the angle that the mag inserts into the mag well. Sometimes that is a little off in some rifles, but it shouldn't be. I remember haivng a mini-14 that would jam only on bump-fire, but I never understood what would make it do that. The only difference is the rate of fire. |

Thanks for the help guys, I'm going to look at all the suggestions and hope that it's just technique that's wrong and not something else... I'm not sure what trigger group it has in it because we bought it as a Kalifornia special at a gun show and opened the mag hole up ourselves |
In that case, I would guess that something is wrong with the FCG. |
| my wasr10 will bump 5 rounds if im lucky but psl bumps great, to bad it is limited because of the 10 round mag. i recently bought a new ak pistol from wellco arms in ohio and on the first try it emptied a complete 30 rounder. after about 400 rounds ( not all at one time ) it started showing some wear on the tail of the bolt carrier, more than the 6000+ rounds worth of normal rapid fire wear on my wasr has, but nothing else has been damaged the gunkote is barely worn off the rails. |

my experience is that de-slapped century arms inc TGs bump like a "all get out" you can be getting thrown around like a rabbit getting shook by a dog, but your ak will still be bumpin... Tapco TGs seem to not like to bum at all. but their single shot trigger pull is awsom, crisp, with little take up and almost no overtravle. |
