I bought this little number at a gun show in '95. Traded a pistol grip Mossberg 500 and about $100 for it. It has been sitting dormant for the better part of 11 years now. A little rust had shown up and she had started looking sad. I decided it was time for a facelift. First I cleaned it up with some 0000 steel wool and CLP. Brightened right up and removed all the rust. No pitting, lookin' good! I was very dissapointed with my Fiberforce stock...So I did some research. I stumbled across Tapco first...quickly talked myself out of their stocks. I did get the SAW grip though. Instead I opted for a high quality stock. My dad had a few brand new Poly mags in the safe, so that was a nice treat. Ordered 1,000 rds of JHP, ready to rock an' roll tomorrow AM. Needless to say, I've been bitten big time. Yeah, there are a lot of jackasses here that like to criticise a persons preference in accessories for an AK47. |
He's right, there is no shortage of snobbery. I think it looks great, nice job! I like that the folder folds to the left instead of the right so that your safety & bolt carrier handle are accesible. Enjoy! |
Yeah those types of people would probably prefer we all wear the same clothes, cut our hair the same, furnish our houses the same...oh wait...those were the communists, so I guess that makes perfect sense! |
It seems to do nicely so far. Overall I am really enjoying it after 2 trips to the range today. |
 Long time no see chevro....You would know about that woulnt you.....Hey man, I am no traditionalist for AKs by far...Although I dont like a super tricked out ak...I believe in functionality...And quality....And it seems that you have the quality part down...and only you know if that rifle is functional for you......I love AKs in thier pure, just rolled off the assembly line fresh into Mikhails hand back in 1949 form. As well as a Polish Beryl gunning down bad guys in the ghettos of poland.....But I think there is a such thing as "Going too far" Just love the gun guys just love the gun!!!!! |
Amen brother! I do like the original AK look too. I plan to have at least a wood Vector underfolder before too long. But as this is my only rifle currently, I prefer function more than authenticity, and this one is very functional for me |
