I bought a grip screw from a guy and it is a good bit too long. It must be 3/4"longer than a standard one. What country or make of Ak is it from?

More than likely from some aftermarket grip product.

Dremel time....

No worky, not threaded far enough down, it bottoms out before it gets tight. I'd have to thread it farther down and cut off extra thread.

or you could shim it w/ some small washers.... possibly not having to cut it at all?

I think I just need a new screw. I think I read somewhere one country uses a longer grip screw.

May be for the Bulgy with the ambiselector cut on the right.
EM for pic and we may have a .39 postal trade ;)

Yes, its for the ambi Bulgarian. I have one on my Krink, as far as I know its the only grip that uses the long bolt.

Does the Polish Tantal have long grip screws?

My early SAR-1 came with a grip screw that was slightly too long (or the US made PG was slightly too short).  I put a small spacer on the grip screw and it allowed me to tighten the PG so it wouldn't move anymore.  I finally put a tapco SAW PG on the SAR-1 and the grip screw became a non-issue.
