Hi guys i have 3 ak-47's 2 i bough one that i built myself....

Now i know you've got to be retarted to have a problem with an ak but here it is.

I have gotten my ak to work that i built myself, and it actually runs better and more accuratly than the ones i bought!!!

Anyways i do have one problem, when i built it i removed the wood, so i wouldnt mess it up too much. When i did that i pushed the lower handguard lever up so i could get that sucker off. (building an ak from the parts kit is hard and its done better without the wood on)
Now when i whent to put the refinished wood back on the rifle, it turns out that that little lever that is supposed to hold the lower handguard in place is stuck facing up. When i try very hard to bring it back to the locked position, it doesnt budge i tryed so hard it even bends a little ( i bent it back...) Anyways i dont want to break it... any suggestions?

Make sure it is lined up with the notch in the barrel. Does it latch ok without the wood if it is lined up?

Is the wood that is supposted to be in the receiver, all the way in the receiver? or is there a gap between the reciever and were the wood is supposed to meet the receiver?

The "tab" portion of the lower hand guard fits underneath the front trunnion between it and the reciever.

If the tab on the handguard is the problem all you have to do is a little sanding to it.  More than half of my builds have required a little bit of fitting of the furniture.

I shaved off some wood and well it managed to fit and it's fitting pretty well, but one wierd thing is that the little metal thing wont push back into place.... the thing that holds the wood in place so after shooting the wood becomes loose.
