if ones gets a pistol parts kit, can you build it on a standard receiver with regular furniture?

Needs to be a pistol-only receiver.

IIRC, any unbuilt receiver can be declared a "pistol" reicever.  The rear trunion has to be modified so it can not take a stock or an extension that would readily take a stock.  I have seen post were people have there FFL write "pistol" on the transfer paperwork.  I wonder if the buffer tube on AR pistols are significantly different then non-pistol buffers.

does it become class3 if you put a stock on it?

Yes. And you can not revert back to a pistol once this is done.

you are never going to get 26" overall with that kit therefore you have to have a reciever transfered as a pistol, or NFA SBR form 1 your reciever transfered as a rifle

That is a cool little kit.  Can I ask where you got it?

That kit is not legal where you live in Oregon. It is okay where I'm at though. Please send it to me, and I will not turn you in as a right wing militia gun nut terrorist. Cool kit! I'd like to know more about it too.

Wrong
A pistol can go back and forth between pistol and rifle configuration as often as your heart desires.  A rifle can't.

Just for the record: Rifle configuration = at least 26" total length with a barrel length of at least 16".  Not really practical for AKs but AR guys do this all the time.

Whats up with the front rivet hole on the trunnion, it looks the same diameter as the barrel pin hole, also the rear rivet hole looks gummed up too. Could be just photoshopped to cover up something (I wonder what)! McM

If you want a stock on it, has to become an SBR ($200 tax stamp) or you'd have to get a fake can permanently attached to bring the barrel length to 16".

Can someone verify that if the receiver is "virgin"  (never has a firearm been built on it) it can be built either way.  I was personally at a gun shop a guy asked if the FFL holder would mark pistol on the 4473, the FFL said that was not necessary.

Anyone else run into this?

He is correct.  A stripped receiver is just that......a stripped receiver.  It is not a pistol or a rifle.

Or he could just bend a flat and be done with at all......
And to answer the question.
Yes you can built it on a regular reciever...and generally you can use standard furniture given they havent shortened the barrell to the point they moved the gas port back. Which they have. Then you will probably have to buy or make custom foregrips for it....Or just not have a foregrip on it at all. For alot of pistol info gunsnet.net has a pistol forum....lots of cool little pistols there.....

I had plans to build one almost identical to that but decided to go with a krink instead. Post some pics when the build is complete

10 bucks says there is a broken tap in the rear hole.  zoomed in it sure looks like it to me.  Also telling is the spall marks on the barrel.  Looks like he tried doing a screw build first, then broke the tap.  Had to push the barrel out with the tap in the hole.   You CAN buy a tap remover if that is the case.. Cant imagine they are cheap though.....

They kinda look photo shopped to me. Either way it seems a little suspicious
