Roll Tide,
24, 3D content developer for various .mil contracts. I just add my first AK to my small collection about 2 months ago, a Vepr in 5.45. It should be converted and compliant by Thursday. Recently sold my AR15 to fund another AK, just haven't decided on what yet. For whatever reason, I just enjoy the AK platform a whole heck of a lot more then the AR/M4. |

I'm down to 1 AR and up to 5 AK platform rifles......I love em"

Hey all,
I'm Charles, new to this site. I am new to the AK world and after doing a lot of research on this site I am blown away with all the details, different models, options, makes, etc. Ya'll have already been a huge help to me and you dont even know it yet. I will admit that I am going to be the "dumb noob" that will have still some questions that I might not find researching on my own. Glad to be here. |

I've been on here for about a year, but haven't formally introduced my self. I've purchased 11 AK variants since my inception onto the dark side. |

I'm from IL, Marine Corps vet, married 5 kids (one boy) looking for my first AK I'm trying to stay around $600 - 700 range but would like to get a decent one any sugestions? I would be open to a kit I am handy with tools, but I don't know what the process is for putting together a kit or a good one (looking for some schooling so I join you fine folks since this site looked like the place to be).

Been on the dark side for a while but don't post too often. Name is Josh, 31 with no kids. Down at the bottom of the map in South Florida. Writer for a variety of topics but the main stay is sports for a living. Have four AKs, one lonely AR and handful of hand guns and a couple of shot guns. Took a break from purchasing for the meantime but always looking around ;) Glad to see so many people interested in the same hobby on AR15. It's my go-to spot for information. Great community.

I'm relatively new to the darkside. First AK was a Saiga 7.62 with a bubba butchered conversion job. Currently I'm into milled Bulgarian AKs. They seem to be as accurate as I need them to be. Sold my Spikes AR about a year ago due to a separation and have been kicking myself in the ass ever since. I appreciate what both have to offer but can appreciate AKs a little more due to their reliability. Oh and I like chili with beans and without. I like both the 9mm and 45 acp. I was raised in the south but most of my family is in northern PA. My favorite caliber is 12 gauge and can shoot my CZ 75 like nobody's business.
In general, the AK forum is quite laid back and informative and I like that I don't have to be scared to post a rookie question. |

Hi guys! I am from Washington state, 25 years old, single and work as an intern-architect. I got into firearms about 3 years ago - I own (4) firearms total: interarms ak74 w/ a trs-25 RDS / Arsenal SLR107-CR with a Chris Butler brake / Virgin Yugo M70ab2 mated to a NDS receiver (I should be receiving it from the builder by the end of the year) and a glock 19.
My most recent ak-related purchase is a PO3.5x21 scope for my ak74. |

Hi all!!
Married with no kids, 2 dogs, and live in IL. |

Single male, veteran, Libertarian (probably on a list now). I bought my first AK last January. WASR 10/63 but just recently got the bug, bad timing I atleast stocked up on mags back when they were $10 knowing I'd eventually get the bug Considering selling one of my ARs and my 1911 during this madness and hoping to grab another AK when the madness subsides, hopefully another <$500 WASR.

Have been on for a few months, live in the Midlands area of the UK and im 41 years young (girlfriend is 31 ).Have shot airguns for years and decided to delve into firearms rather than keep spending large sums of money on my Nissan 300ZX twin turbo.....but now I keep spending it on guns and ammunition instead !!!.

Hey all,
Tbird here...into cars too. Guns are my prime passion. Got my first at 15 y.o. Have loads of ARs and a few AKs. Had to get another safe a couple years ago, the other shrank. Have handguns too. Have always had a motorcycle and now have ATVs and UTVs. Married for as long as I can remember, but it hardly seems long at all. 2 boys and a boy and girl adopted. 8 grandkids from the lot. Bringing up new gun enthusiasts into the world. Twice retired, but not very old. The wife shoots too and has her own guns. Have read on this sight for many years before I signed up. |

Early 50s, 4 grown kids and 2 Grandchildren, retired Army (13yrs Active & 7yrs Reserves) and a retired LEO (21yrs)... Been on the go since the age of 17 and haven't slowed down!!
The first rifle I ever bought was a new semi-auto Hungarian AKM back in 1987, followed by an used HK-91 a few days later... Ever since that, I've been into military styled firearms. Over the years, I've acquired many "Black Rifles" for my collection. As for me, its a tough one, my 2 all time favorite firearm platforms are the AKs and ARs, with the AR having a slight lead since it was the tool of my trades. As for the AK, it was the tool of my enemies and over the years, I've learned that this is something to respect. Next to guns, Audio/Video equipment is my next love with a new interest in stereo equipment made by Yamaha, Pioneer and Kenwood from the late 70s to the late 90s. And collecting vinyl LPs, CDs and DVDs. |

Hello all, new to the forums and first time poster. Currently in the DC area, 31, single w/ 2 yr old.
I have always been into handguns more than rifles, but I'm looking to change that. Currently own H&K P30 and Glock 19 Gen 4 (both 9mm), as well as an M1 Carbine that was refurbished and handed down from my father. Used to have a Kimber 1911 and H&K USP Compact 40, but I sold them when I went overseas instead of having someone trustworthy babysit them (a mistake I will never make again). My friends got me turned on to Arfcom when I mentioned getting into rifles. They intended for me to get an AR, but it's looking like I'll be going the way of the AK! |

Welcome to the forum!
For the AK what caliber are you thinking? Z |

I've read many places that it's best to start out with 7.62x39, so I guess that'll be my go to at first. Will be used often on the range, and a trunk gun/SHTF if it comes to that, but by then I'm sure I'll have contracted BRD and have a small collection.

7.62 is probably the best to start with yes, but one day you may discover the darkest of the darkside

Hey all, Houston TX checking in. Great site, I learn more every day.
Mainly had pistols and a couple shotguns until now. I started off about six months ago with with a '67 Polish hardwood kit, and I'm loving it. Contemplating a 5.45 for my next buy. |

I'm 30 and from Michigan. Been on the AK forum for a bit, now. Not the biggest fan of semi-autos, but I do really like the AK platform. Right now I only have three semi-autos: Steyr AUG, AR-15, and a Galil ACE. It'll probably stay that way for a while as the only other semi-autos I really would like are an Arsenal SAM7SF (once they come back down in price) and the CZ Bren 2 Battle Rifle (if it ever makes it stateside). Previously I had an Arsenal SAM7 but sold it for the Galil. The Galil, IMO, is the perfect AK: milled receiver, CL/CHF barrel, fantastic ergos (ambi safety, left side charging handle).
Glad to be involved in discussions with guys that share the same enjoyment of the AK platform as I do. |

I started out with AKs back in the early 90s when they were cheap and so was the ammo. Over the years I got into ARs and my collection of AKs shrunk and then disappeared. I regained interest recently due to availability of parts and ammo as well as a good magazine options. I can't say that I am thrilled with current pricing, but there are a lot of real good quality options out there right now.
