Help me out guys. I was wandering into a gun store today and found what was marked as a Polytech AK47. The problem was, it was a folding stock, and it was identical to a Galil. Square handguards, folding stock, bipod, it was definitely not an AK.  I didn't have time to look it over, but I can't find anything on the net.

Any ideas, AK-philes?

Try searching polytech on gunbroker.

check www.chicom47.com/ and see if anything looks like what you saw.  Poly's with the Galil type folder are fairly rare but it's also possible that somebody installed a sidefolder on it.

I must admit, I'm stumped. It looked like this weapon, but wooden handguard. It appeared the stock folded to the right, but he had an AK mag sticking out the bottom. I certainly would not put it past some of these people to make a mag fit that shouldn't, but I'm am very, very puzzled by this.

In this pic, you can clearly see the turned-up charging handle, it had that. Also seen was the folding carry handle.  It literally looked almost exactly like this gun, except for the mag.

Edit: Nothing close on gunbroker, or gunsamerica.
I know a little about AK's and like the shown Galil, the gas tube appeared to be spaced farther off the barrel than the AK, with about 6 or 8 vents(?) on it. It also had what looked like an A2 flash suppressor and the button on the back of the receiver, though I'm not sure what for, I think for the folder. I did not think to see if it was forged or stamped or cast.

Some take the Norinco Hunter milled 47 and turn them into Galil clones.
