yes, there are multiple bans..there was a ban in 89 that banned the importation of non-sporting guns., usually referred to as 922r, then there was the AWB which banned certain features no matter the origin. to get around the 922r thing imported weapons need to have a certain number of US made parts. there is plenty of info on this in the tacked threads at the top of the forums. It gets confusing and downright agitating sometimes, and only proves that the gun laws were made by people who have no clue about guns. That is just a quick layman's overview, like I said, there is a bunch of info on here. Long and short of it, you can convert it, just put the requisite number of american parts in it if you are converting it to a "Non-Sporting" configuration. |
If its already a hi-cap then no, they already replaced the parts when it was imported and converted to hicap. But if you buy a single stack and do it your self then yes you must replace parts. |

No. The 10-round single-stack rifles are legal to import. Century didn't have to do anything to make them legal. The double-stack ones that take standard AK magazines are not legal to import. That's why they have to replace parts to make the rifle legally considered made in the US. It's completely screwed-up, but it's the regulations Bush left us with.z |
