I know there's other topics of the same, but I figured I'd ask now in case there's been any recent or semi-recent updates on the receiver issue.  I just got a romanian "g" kit yesterday and now I'm in the market for a receiver.  Suggestions?  Details and long posts are welcome and will be greatly appreciated!  So will links.

I already did, and honestly, I'm thinking a ewbanks receiver, but I was thinking about a global trades one also.  Just looking for advice, as I've already searched and read probobly 15-20 posts on the subject.

I haven't received mine yet, but everyone seems to agree that the Global Trades receivers are the best.  I called and they said there is a 4 week turn-around on them, but I think it may be longer than that.

Alot of people also like OOW and Ewbanks, but I've seen alot of posts lately about poor quality with both of them.

Wow, I really don't want to wait an extra month for a Global Trades receiver, but I suppose it might be worth the wait.   I guess I'll look around to see if anyone has a Global trades receiver they're selling on gunbroker or anything.  How much extra does it cost to park the receiver when you order it from global trades?

I believe it's $8.  Apparently, Ohio Rapid Fire and MaasGuns (SP?) also have Globals in stock so you might try them.

Recent posting on another forum has reports of the Global Trades receiver waiting periods lately being more than 2+ months and there have been issues with the receivers arriving twisted by the heat treatment.  I bought mine at a gunshow at the beginning of the year and it was fine.

We have changed heat treaters to get our yield up--the last one warped up to half of some batches. We are trying hard to get caught up. I think things will straighten out over the next two weeks.

But my backorder file is really thick now. I am working my crew overtime to catch up.

Go with Harlans receivers when he gets them in stock this January.  By far they are going to be the best and eb the closest to real military receivers.

I have built 3 Romanian G kit and just finished (literally 30 minutes ago) a Hungarian AMD-65 on the Ewbanks receivers and still no problems. The only thing that you will have to do is clean of up the ejector a little, file down part of the lower rail area so the mag slips in easier and open up the magazine well just a bit.

Make sure you order the receiver WITH trunion holes for the Romanian because they line up 100%. I had to drill new holes for the rear trunion on the AMD and fill in two others that weren't needed but that was a piece of cake.

You can't beat the Ewbanks for the price. We got ours in a group for $39 each.

thanks,
Ron

I found a deal on a 1.6mm Armory USA receiver, are these any good?  Anyone have any experience with them, especially with a Romanian black stripe/orange g kit (which is the one I'm using)?

They're pretty strong, though will need to mill the trunions to fit into the receiver--the trunions are designed for the "standard" 1.0mm Euro receivers, so they need shaved down about 0.3mm on both sides to fit.

A hassle/extra step in a build, and most builders charge extra for working on the 1.6 receivers.
