I got bad news for myself... The yugo sks I bought... is a piece of shit. However, Ill give it one plus, the very few times that it actually did shoot and cycle the next round properly, it was very accurate.. more so than my wasr and without the trigger slap. But I took it to the range today and it did nothing but jam. It would only properly eject spent casings like 1 in 4 times. other times they would get stuck in the action. and i kept shooting and put a total of about 20 rounds thru it, and now the bolt is completely locked up. Its locked in the closed position, I cant even pull it back at all. I tried taking the receiever cover off and recoil spring to free it up. It still doesnt work. Im going to bring it back to dunham's where I bought it last Saturday. They said there is no returns on firearms but the guy said if it was defective, they would send it back to the importer, which just happens to be Centruy International, and they would either fix it or send me a new one. Now that he actually did sell me a bad gun, I hope he doesnt give me any shit about honoring that policy... or I will raise holy hell in there.

You think I will get shit from them about bringing it back tomorrow?

are you talking about the lever by the grenade launcher... if thats what your talking about then its up and to the right.. so I think so.

It should be a button at the end of the gas tube. It should be pointing toward the charging handle side of the weapon.

I dont think thats what my problem was though.. because half of the time, it was cycling properly... And like I said before, the Bolt is completely locked up right now.. I cant even pull it back... I wouldnt imagine that the gas tube button would cause that.

The bolt shouldnt lock up, regardless of the gas valve position.

Does the number on your bolt match the rest of the rifle? You could have a headspace problem.

Actually, now that you mention it, the bolt is the only number that does not match.  And I also noticed that after loading it, it doesnt really close completely and I have to give it a nice slap to close it completely.

did you properly remove ALL the cosmoline before you fired it?  Or was it sold with the cosmo pre-cleaned?

Friend of mine has one that he bought and it did the same things would it stovepipe after a couple of rounds?  We changed ammo and it shot fine.  It didnt like the green laqour coated ones but the steel colored ones shot fine the rest of the day.

With the gas lever in the wrong position it WILL cycle some of the time, and it will also bulge the case causing difficult extraction, I also assume that it could cause an overpressure situation which could possibly bufu the bolt and carrier.

I know, I did it once, when they were still a new item to play with.

Also, the very first ones that came in had rusty gas tubes, and too much gas blew by to operate them reliably, after all the rust was cleaned off the inside of the tube.
