I've got a Romanian SAR-1 with a new G2 FCG in it. I can sometimes bump fire several rounds, but it usually misfires after 3-5. What I mean is that when it stops firing, if I pull the trigger again, it acts as if it's not cocked, even though there is a live round in the chamber. To try again, I have to cycle the action once (ejecting that round, cocking it, and loading a fresh one). Maybe at some point during firing, the trigger is pulled before the bolt is closed? Or the bolt isn't closing all the way? What are the most likely culprits, assuming a clean gun? |

Seen it happen, I think it may be that the trigger fails to reset with some bumpfire techniques where people are letting the recoil drive the gun to the rear too much. I think that there is not enough resistance (against recoil, like when it is normally planted in your shoulder) when the gun cycles and so the bolt travel is limited in a way that does not have enough rearward travel to insure the trigger is re-cocked. |
| inorder for auto loading guns to work properly they need to be held firmly. whether that is with your shouler on a rifle/ shotgun or your wrist on handguns doesn't matter. i have seen alot of new handgun shooters limp-wrist them while firing. they recoil enough to cock the hammer/ set the striker (the frame actually recoils with the slide or bolt slightly) but never ejected the empty case. then next pull of the trigger lands on the emty case that was fired before. essentially that is what is happening to your AK. you are "limp-wristing" it, and the hammer is following the bolt forward and slam firing....ie... the bolt is recoiling enough to eject the empty casing but not enough to set the hammer/sear. that is the danger of bump firing. you can get out of battery cartridge ignitions. if your lucky it'll just swell the magazine and blow the dust cover off. |
