| Anyone know the Enamel that is used on Russian AKs? I know Chris Butler from AK-USA has his own Enamel that he uses after he parks his guns. Just curious what is used, thanks a lot guys. |

Dupli-Color Semi-Gloss Black DE1635 Dupli-Color Low-Gloss Black DE1634 These are Ford ceramic 500deg engine enamel paints. To duplicate russian finish, paint 2 light dust coats of semi-gloss black then finish painting rifle with 3 to 4 light dust coats of low gloss black then bake 1 hour at 300deg. When finished, you cant tell the difference between a real russian gun and the one you just painted. NAPA can get the stuff unless you know of others.... |

theres actually a texture to bulgi finish 2 ways to get it first way (can be removed with brake cleaner and some solvents) paint a light coat with dup 500 deg paint stick the can in the freezer for 30 min then paint it again (it will spit and sputter but gives texture) then couple more light coats after can reachs room temp again and bake second way (will stanup to brake cleaner and more durable then most bake on finishs) paint a light coat of krylon bbq paint let it dry paint a fairly heavy coat over a small section let it dry about 1/2 way (not shiney but not dry to the touch either) and run a torch over it slow it will bubble up slightly after you have finished let it dry and cover with another light coat then bake 400-425 for couple hours |
