I was admiring my new Tantal project with a friend and he asked why I wasn't using a Tantal dust cover. I told him it is a Tantal, and original to the rifle. He then goes on to say that Tantal covers are ribbed and since mine is smooth it can't be original. I had heard that the Tantals did in fact come with smooth covers and are considered a rarer variant. Can anyone shed a little light on this? Thanks in advance.hug.gif |
| The smooth covers that were found on some Tantal rifles were just old past production stock wz.60 (PMK) covers that were used up at the Factory during production of these rifles. This type never was re-intro'ed for production - they were all from past production lots. |
Really? So if I am trying to build a Milled wz 60 clone the smooth cover I got with my tantial would be the correct part for my build? Darn you... now I need to find another cover... too bad they are stamped

Yes, it would be correct. But then you wouldn't have a matching cover for your Tantal! There are a few thousand of these wz.60 receiver covers still in warehouses in Poland - they are all unserialized as they are unissued and in perfect condition - no storage wear. |
