Ok I just wanted some opinions on this. I shouldered both and the under folder felt
alot better on the shoulder. The wood stock felt really small.

For anyone that has shot both, describe the recoil.
Which do you prefer?

Thanks

fixed stock.

Underfolders are nice for looks but try getting a good cheek weld....not gunna happen. Also, underfolders tend to get sloppy after a while(loosen up).

I would get the fixed stock. If you want it more compact do what the insurgents do and just take it off.

I have both, the full stock is a little more comfortable, the folder is alot more compact.I like shooting the under folder, cheek weld can be a slight problem but still not bad. Both have advantages and dis-advantages,I like to keep a folder in my Jeep.It fits perfectly in the little trunk space.

none of my uf's  have any slop in them but besides the cheek weld issue the "points" on the uf's can leave bruises if you don't hold it real tight. Get a fixed stock for shooting and an uf for the cool factor. A side folder gives you the best of both worlds.

That was something I was wondering. When they get loose can they be tightened?
What is involved with that.

Thanks for the reply.

Thats probably his best bet,get the full stock version and pick up a Romy or East German side folding buttstock. They mount right up to the full stock models rear trunnion without any alteration to the gun.

I prefer the fixed stock because wood is nicer and looks way better than a s/f or u/f.

Although a s/f on a rommy kit with bleached handguards does me good

Dunno. I fired a friend of a friend's full auto registered AK at Knob Creek last year.  I was crying like a little girl after I dumped a mag....it felt like someone dragged my cheek across an astroturf football field.

Thanks for the reply guys. Looks like I'm going for the fixed wooden stock.
Anything else I need to know before I buy this weekend?

Get the underfolder and at least 1,000 rds of ammo.  You won't regret it.

Warsaw Length > Underfolder > NATO Length

Your body will have it's own set of dimensions for fit, incl cheek weld. Also consider the different drops have different alignment to either lower irons or higher optics (stamped rec fixed stocks and Galil type side folders are pretty straight out, others drop more), and the Warsaw length std stock can use a $10 Tapco rubber extension that is 'easiest' on the shoulder.

I bought my first Yugo UF and was prepared for the cheek weld issues that I never had. Honestly
it shot better than any AK that I have put rounds thru.

I have also a Romy with the sidefolder and it is comfortable. Biggest difference I noticed is that the UF is significantly longer(more so for short arms as mine).

The side folder are pretty darn nice, but its not an under folder.

Only issue is the UF leaving a gouge in the fore grip. I got a splinter and rare toxicity and nearly died Windex did the trick.

I would love to have both. Unfortunately the funds are slightly out of that range. It would have
to be one or the other.

Question: If I get the fixed stock, can an underfolder be put on later?

Not without changing the whole back end, removing rear tang and cutting big holes in your receiver.
