I am in the market for a new gun and I am just curious if AK parts are interchangeable (russian,Romanian etc), I just want to be able to put a Chrome barrel etc on it if it does not have one.

The only AK variant i'm aware of that doesn't have a chrome lined barrel is the Yugo's.

So the prblem children were the SKS's?
What about tactical aplications? I know that the round may be a bit strong for close up, but how do they do for medium range as far as accuracy? And what about cost of ammo? are there any good American brands?

problem children being SKS? the only SKS I'm aware of without a chrome barrel is the Yugo.
