I received my kits from the weaponeer group buy Today.    I love coming home to a present from the BBT.

Here are a couple overall pictures

The top one is 1983 and the bottom is 1980

As you can see the top one has a lot of wear.  30% finish left.  botton is in great shape, maybe test fired.

Front ends.  They have diffrent FSBs.

Barrels.  top is the 83 botton the 80.  Both passed the bullet test.  I got .29 with the calipers on both.

Bolts.  How many round would it take to wear off the paint?

Yes, the PMKMS kits I have seen, have all been impressive. The only small issue I have seen on a couple specimens, they got a tad bit "drill happy", and nearly went into the barrel on the front trunion rivit.

Nice kits!

I check my drill holes.  The deepest they went was 3.5 to 4 cm.

What do you think about the top one?  Keeper?

Oh hell yeah! Won't be long before you can sell the top one, and pay for both! If you do decide to keep it and build it, you are going to refinish it anyway. From my experience, most of these guns were carried/handled but not shot that much.

Probably doesn't take much to wear the finish on those things.

That's what it looks like to me.  The paint over metal comes right off.   I will build it as a battlefield pickup.  Or sell it.

I vote Battlefield Pick Up.

A far as I'm concerned, they were a steal for $180.  Especially the bottom one.

Now to get the stuff to build them.

I was thinking along the lines of a few claymores, M240s and a few milllion rounds.  It would have been easy to mow down a few throusand considering the tactics back then

Yes, but it would have only worked once - after that whoever was left would be sitting in a hole trying to figure out what happened!

Billybob!  what the hell was that?

Don't know but I'm not sticking my head up to see!

Where you gonna build yours at RealSundance?  I'm siting on my PKMS myself and trying to find someone here to do it with.

In my basement.  I need tools though.   Press and rivet jigs.

Spending the money on kits now and I am buying a milled AK Monday.   Plus , it will give me something to do in the winter.
