I recently purchased a Barrett 50 cal and I love the rifle, but the time has come for another toy.  I need to go much cheaper with this one and thought it would entertain me to put together an AK47.  I only want to build one, but I am a little lacking on expertise and tools and so I wonder if a kit is for me.  Cost is somewhat of a factor and want a minimal investment.  I heard that kits won't really be available soon, and want in before it is too late.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

get a vector or an arsenal inc completed rifle and a pile of ammo and mags.  unless you're really dead set on building your own.  it is far more involved than building an AR that is for sure.

Buy a mak off of Gunbroker for 400$, convert it to a REAL Type 56 AK, (Legally), make it 922r compliant, and you'll have a good shooter.
