Hey all, I was e-mailing with a guy at FEG asking him a few questions. In the exchange I mentioned flats. He said that I could buy them if I wanted . My question is, is it worth it? Do the dimensions change enough upon bending that it would mess up the tradition of FEG quality? ETA: He didn't mention price, because I couldn't give him a quantity. Thanks, BoB |

FEG flats would probably be a little better than others assuming that the various dimples, x and y depressions are of correct dimensions. If they didn't have that front hole like a Tapco flat but were otherwise identical then that would be an improvement . Any word on variations like 5.45 or 5.56? |
Flats, being less than 80% complete, are not considered firearms or firearm parts, AFAIK. I don't think there's an issue there. BoB |
They are flats for an SA-85. I'm assuming that means they are semi. So I dug back through my e-mail and the guy said "16-18 USD depending on quantity". I imagine shipping and import duties would seriously jack that price, so don't get too excited. Anyhow, this all happened in passing back in January and I didn't think much about it until the whole import issue came up. I tried to write back to the guy at "feginvest.hu" and that domain doesn't exist. I'll try some other addresses. BoB |
Likely not. I don't know how complete the flats would be, but he was clear that they were SA-85 flats. I'm guessing 7.62 only. However, flats are just that. Flat. I'm sure they could be tweaked by an adequate gunsmith. BoB |
