Can anyone tell me which arsenal made the 7.62  that has KT51 stamped on the back rib?  I cant find any other markings on it like the arrow in the triangle or the star.  I have read that if it had KT51 in a triangle, it's Tula, but mine does not look like there is a triange around it.  Thanks!

I'll just hijack this thread !!! ...

wait a minute ...

Anybody ever seen a "Plum" 5.45 bakelite ? ... BTW that old mag on the left is huey's ...

Now we throw in another old mag for comparison ... and now the mag in the middle is huey's ...

That 20 stands for Tula .... I think he would rather have it ....

This last pic is probably the closest to actual color ... Anyone have one simular ?

 huey got a 20 .....

there is only 3 arsenal that I know of that make mags, TULA (star), ISHVESK (triangle with arrow), POLYANA (star in shield, mostly make RPK mags, and drums)

are you sure it isn't TK? if it is, it's  actually  OTK, the O must have been rubbed off.......OTK is equivilant to our DoD acceptance stamp,  the soviets used that OTK stamp on just about everything, drop bags, slings, shoulder boards, mags, uniforms etc....  it's nothing more then a acceptance stamp....... I have a  ishevsk bakelite that has OTK 6 inked  on it.......you would be very hard pressed to find which arsenal made that mag........but if I had to guess, I have seen more ishvesk ones then tula ones. you got a 50/50 chance of it being one of those.

This is the only marking on the mag.  It is on the rib and looks like this:
/kT
 51
the / is stamped lighter than the rest

sounds to me like it's just a inspection stamp. hard to tell what arsenal made it without the arsenal mark.

Do the Russian ribbed ones have the traditional arsenal stamps?

I do know for a fact on the  "slab sides" they have arsenal stamps, the ishvesk stamp is  small on on the back of the mag....I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't carry that over when they started to make the ribbed metal mags as well.....the newer ribbed metal mags ones that I have seen in pictures have the arsenal mark in the same place as the bakelite ones near the bottom on the side. but I'm betting that they also produced a lot of mags without any arsenal stamps as well, maybe for export.

If the mag has KT and a number inside a triangle, then it is from the Tula factory. If not, then I have no idea.

Tula plum mags are full on purple, and very shiny.. Here is a pic of one (in an AKSU)-

All Russian 30rd 74 mags have either the Izhmash-

Or Tula-

Pic of Tula orange 74 mag (again in an AKSU)-

Color on the Russian bakalite mags (both AKM and 74) can range from very orange (like a E.German mag) to dark red... There doesnt seem to be any sort of pattern to it..
