I went to the range today and fired mt Romanian GP WASR-10...unfortunately I didn't have alot of ammo, so I only put one clip through it..30 rounds, but it did jam twice. Both times it appeared like the bullet was about halfway in the chamber. I would pull the trigger...the hammer would drop, but no fire, then I would look at the breach, and see the round was only halfway chambered. I would have to manually pull the bolt , turn the gun over and jiggle the round out then let the bolt go and continue firing the next round. Is this a normal malfunction? If not, what could I possibly do to correct this. I was under the impression that these guns just don't jam. As a sidenote, I put 90 rounds through my AR-15 today, and it worked flawlessly.

Ok first of all that was a cheap shot saying your AR worked...you're gonna hurt our feelings talkin that way, Bro, possibly get banned from the forum, and maybe even get some plauge placed upon you from the AK gods... Ok seriously, though... in a pile of 100 AKs you will generally have about 98 that run flawlessly for years, and 1 or 2 that have issues. The ones with issues usually are easy to fix and then they will run flawlessly too. So on to your issue. This sounds like a failure to feed. When you notice this, is the back or the round seated properly in the bolt? Does the bolt carrier move correctly back and forth without a mag installed? We are basically looking for whatever is not allowing the bolt to go into full closed position. This could be an issue with the mag, the bolt rails, etc, so begin looking through it and let us know what you find. (one last thing about ARs....out of 100 ARs, you probably will get 90 that work flawlessly at first, and 10 that need serious attention. I would not bet on more than about 50 running flawlessly for years after that...just MHO |
sorry 'bout the cheap shot..I knew I was going to get flamed for it!![]() I was just wondering what might be causing it!! |
Clip - Well, that's your problem. These don't take M1 garand clips - They take magazines. p.s. generally a bad Magazine. Toss it away or sell it to jugrunner if it's a slabside |
![]() Yes I mis-spoke there! There was a guy at the range with an M1 though. It must have gotten me confused! I'll try not to let that slip again! I guess I need some new MAGAZINES! LOL! I did notice this evening screwing around with it that a couple of times the ejector didn't grab the shell casing...I took the dremmel and just slightly polished the front of the ejector...it seems to grab the bullet every time now...I need to get back to the range...this F%&*ing around with live ammo in the back yard isn't cool...although I'm being really, really careful. I NEED MORE AMMO!!!!!!
