| I am considering picking up an AK-47, not sure which version yet. I wanted to know if its possible to remove the buttstock and shoot the gun that way, like a pistol? Are there smaller threaded barrels as well, or any AK-pistol conversion kits? Thanks. |
| If the AK is still over 26 inches overall length, and the barrel is still over 16 inches, then isn't it still considered a rifle?? You can buy a shotgun with a 18" barrel and a pistol grip, and it is still classified as a long gun, so wouldn't it be the same thing. I would think that he would be fine with the AK, but I may be wrong here. I am by no means an expert on firearms laws. |
The problem comes with going from a rifle to a pistol. Without fancy SBR legal papers, shorter is not legal if it started as a rifle. If it started as a pistol, without any provision for a buttstock or front pistol grip, shorter can not only be legal but cheaper since 922r US parts count does not apply to pistols. |
