Can you convert a pump ak into a semi automatic?  I see that century has those pump .223 ak's with 5 mags for 150$ , and was wondering if, and how you could convert it to a semi automatic form? I guess they are high capacity to correct?? Thanks guys

$150?

hell you cant get a 5.56 kit for that price.  I wonder how much surgery would be involved?  new carrier? drill gas port? hmm......

That gas block doesn't look pinned on.......

anway if you can get the gas block off you would just need another gasblock/front sight base, piston, upper w/tube and lower handguard.

I'd say totally take it off, put on a barrel/gas tube/handguard etc from a parts kit and either rivet on a new trunnion or press the barrel into the existing trunnion if possible.  If it were me, I wouldn't try drilling the gas port or anythng like that, I'd try to do a clean job by replacing the barrel and other parts and then it would be a regular stamped receiver AK.

I believe that there is no gashole drilled in the barrel. If that is the case finding a .223 barrel and all of the other parts would get expensive, assuming you could find one.

If the gas hole is in the barrel then I would imagine that parts from a 5.45 kit should work to restore the gun to it's proper config. This could be a good way to get a hard to find SAR3 type rifle.

Yep you guys are right....more trouble than it is worth, all you basically have is a receiver and front trunnion
