I am a new member to this site. I have hand affection for the SKS and AK's for a looong time. I have a 92 NHM-91 and am thinking about putting on an RPK stock set from IO. Does any law prohibit this? I know that ignorance is no excuse so I am being proactive. Thanks in advance!

Unless you have a thumbhole stock AK that required no US parts in that form, then you are just swapping furrin parts for furrin parts and its all good.

What if his stock set was US compliant parts? I am unfamiler with this model, please give details.

NHM-91 was a thumbhole stocked Chinese RPK.

The short answer it is not "safe".  It's the same as before the sunset.

You need to load up your AK with US parts before you can switch to the normal pistol grip stock set.

If your NHM-91 is anything like the two in my safe, you need six parts, as that has a muzzle nut.

If you're buying that furniture set from IO, you've eliminated three parts that are easy to be replaced.

You're left with:

Hammer
Trigger
Disconnector
Gas Piston
Muzzle Attachment

for EASY replacement.

I'd reccomend picking up a US-made pistol grip or forearm for your sixth part.

K-Var and RSA are probably your best sources for the rest of the parts.

K-Var has Arsenal gas pistons, pistol grips, forearms and US-made muzzle nuts.

RSA has the best FCG available, as well as gas pistons
