| Sorry to show my ignorance, what’s the story with these? Any good? What variants do they sell? Are they all WASR10? Seen one listed locally but don’t know a damn thing about AK, but would like to get into 1 or 10. Thanks. |
| Local is good, Romy QC is better that is was but a few still slip thru with canted sights/gas block/siderail not parallel to the bore. WASR10s start life as a locap gun that only accepts single stakc mags, and many are modded with correct US parts to be legal hicaps. $350 to handpick a decent hicap model is a fair deal. |

You can read a lot about them here: Romanian AK Site I bought a post-ban WASR-10 several years ago and it had all the problems. Canted front sight, trigger slap, un-pinned gas rod in bolt carrier. I think I spent a total of $60 having the trigger mechanism replaced with a G2 and had the gas rod pinned. I moved the front sight pin pretty far to the right to compensate for the canted front sight block and it's dead on accurate at 100 yards now. I'm very pleased with it now. Can't beat it for the money. |
No, I think Century brought the SARs in the US as well, but not anymore. WASRs are all they ship now. The magwell for the hi-caps are wider than the low cap models. I think a lot of the WASRs started life as low-caps and were modified by Century to accept hi cap mags. If you want to be sure while you're shopping, take a hi-cap mag with you to be sure it fits. They're cheap and I'm pretty sure this is a good way to test the rifle. |
