| I just recently came across a pretty good condition Maadi with the 20" barrel for a good price. I've been thinking about converting it into a nice RPK clone with the proper furniture and bipod, etc. I am planning on doing this to have some fun, but also to be able to resell it perhaps in a compliant form. What would be the going rate for something like this?? I want to make it nice, but I don't want to drop too much money into the project and then not be able to sell it at a fair price. So, any hints/ideas what a fair market price would be?? It is a stamped receiver, in case any were wondering. Thanks. dar48 |

Depends on exactly what all your planning. The Maadi RPM has a 20" light barrel were as the RPK has a 23" heavy barrel. If you find a true PRK barrel assembly that is in good condition, along with other good quality parts it would be worth $1K +/-. If you were just planning on making a RPM 922r compliant, swapping out the furniture, and installed a universal fit bipod I would guess $525. |

I would say about 500 you probably can sell that, if it's the RPM (with bipod)..... with the compliant parts and RPK furniture, and refinsh the metal...... you will have to do some fitting of a RPK lower handguard in order for it to fit in the lower handguard retainer. the RML didn't have a bipod on them.........which if it's the one you are thinking of getting, you won't be able to put on a RPK bipod on it.....it will be too long to fold up under the barrel, the bipod attaches behind the FS, so the lower handguard will be in the way.........and on top of that, the barrel is too skinny, so you won't be able to secure it on the barrel. the RPM I have has a shorted RPD bipod on it, and some extra metal around the barrel where it attaches to, now you can always put some cheapie aftermarket bipod in it......but I don't think you will get 400 for it. here is my RPM converted to a RPK wannabe........ http://www.hunt101.com/img/055580.jpg |
You may have meant this, but just to clarify not all RPM's came with bipods. Mine did not. |
 This is my Maddi RML made into a RPK clone.. I have over $700.00 in it including the rifle its self The maddi was in near mint condition when i bought it so i did pay a premium price for it.. Bipod is from a Chinese 61 LMG that fits tight to the barrel with a bit of work.. furniture is new Russian laminate .. Another rifle that makes a great clone is a Polytech National Match, being it had a heavy 20"barrel and also had the nice milled reciever.. |

Click on the link for the "Egyptian Rifles" page of my web pages for info on the different models of Maadi rifles. mywebpages.comcast.net/jfreeman246/index.htm There is a pic of a early import RPM that came with a bipod. Due to all the models of Maadi rifles being a semi auto version of the Soivet AKM rifle even the longer 20" barrels of the models RPM and RML are turned to the same diameter of the ARM rifle. Which is 1/10 of a inch smaller in diameter than the barrel of a RPK so a RPK bipod will need to be shimmed to fit on the barrel. |
