I love shooting my new AK underfolder.  This is my first AK having shot ARs for years.  I notice that when I pull the trigger I can FEEL the gun go off in my trigger finger.  It's more annoying that painful but still very noticable.  Is this what I have heard referred to as "trigger slap"?  Or is a certain ammount of trigger slap to be expected from all/most AKs?  I have read that some of the cheap FCG cause this type problem, but this being my first AK it is hard for me to gauge. What do you think?  BTW this is a Vector underfolder.

I think all have some form of slap to some degree(first Ive heard of a Vector having it)...Red Star Arms has a killer trigger for an AK..
A cheaper alternative is the Gordon G2 trigger group..
Welcome to the Darkside Fellow Kentuckian.....

ETA: I guess its just a Tapco G2 now..

If the fcg parts have a small 'C' on them, they are the low budget, random quality Century US parts. While I have tried some worth keeping, most prefer to just toss 'em.

Sounds like a case of the slap, so seek treatment soon!

If it's a CEntury import, you can be just about guaranteed that it's trigger slap. I tried many times grinding on my sear to fix the problem, but it got even worse over time. I finally got fed up and put a G2 trigger in there. WAY better, and cheap too. The RSA trigger is the best, but for less than half that, the G2 is a very nice alternative.

Here's how to cure a case of the slap......chuck out the FCG currently in your weapon. Toss it into your partsbox.....order or have ready a Red Star Arms FCG and gone be your triggerslap problems and you'll be faster on the trigger too.

RSA trigger helped improve my accuracy a great bit, coupled with good optics it cut my groups in half.

Here's the link to show you how to fix that.

Trigger Slap Fix

I tried the fix and still had slap, which does happen on occasion. Therefore I just replaced with a G2 trigger assembly and it does fine now.

Vector says they use Tapco FCG's. My underfolder has no noticeable trigger slap.

From what I hear, if you get a Red Star FCG, there will definitely not be any trigger slap.

Thanks for all the respnses so far.   Because this is my first AK, I am not sure if it's slap or not.  It feels more like a noticeable tingle in the trigger finger than a slap.  Does what I have sound like trigger slap?  I don't get anything like this from my AR.  Input appreciated cause if there is a problem I want to fix it....

Trigger slap happens so fast you don't really feel a distinct slap in your finger. Shoot a bunch and that "tingle" will quickly turn into an ache. More than likely it's trigger slap.

Try the trigger slap fix first by grinding on yours.
If it doesn't get better, replace it with the G2 or RSA.

I looked over the trigger group.  The retaining spring that fits next to the hammer and trigger pins was not seeted completely.  I pushed in on a little further till its hook botttomed out.  Could this have caused my slap issue?  I also looked at the disconnector(did not remove it)  It does not appear to have the extra metal to cut off as mentioned in the previous post.  Since this is a Vector build,  I guess I already have a G2  Your thoughts welcomed

Check to see if the markings match; there are ID's on the side of each piece.

Checked to see if any markings on FCG.  There are none.  Guess I lucked out and hot a junky trigger.  No complaints though, love the rifle.  Does anyone else have the G2 that charges less shipping than tapco?

get the RSA trigger group and the trigger group retainer plate (the plate makes life easy) and your problem sounds like trigger slap to me but I am no expert...
