| Guys, I have an old AK I want to have rebuilt and parkerized. I dont have time to do it myself. Who does the best work out there? ie. someone who actually takes pride in their work and isn't trying to bang out 20 units a day. |

I'd say Josh Newton. I haven't had him do any work for me yet, but I've seen some of his stuff, and I'm impressed! | Black is good. Semi-gloss black is perfect. Matte (flat) black is too 'soft'. Please don't have it Parkerized - gray AKs look like crap. Regular old blueing over about a 320 grit finish is good, too, and provides the best classic look. If you can remove and reinstall the fire-control parts, there's no reason you can't do a bake-on refinish. Available colors are many, so you could do anything from snow white to desert tan to any camo to black. Most people find it's best to stay with the original finish type/color. |
