I have a bunch of mags I have bought over the years.  I thin most are from E Germany and Hungury , but I cant be sure.  Is there anyway to tell where these mags are made?  Thanks, Dave

Not really, the EG might have finer machine work on the "locking tabs"

Over in the magazine section, there used to be a thread about identifying AK mags. There are some very slight differences and some have very faint markings along the back rib.I'll see if I can find the link.

I've got Hungarians and East Germans, and they got mixed up. Now I have no idea which is which. When I first got the Hungarians, I took them apart and cleaned/oiled them as I do any mag, and I seem to remember differences in the follower, but it has to be out to see it. The E. Germans I think are blued, with the Hungarians being painted. I can probably sort them out if I sit down and get them all out.

Okay, that didn't take long. The Hungarians have '02' (the Warsaw Pact code for Hungary) stamped on the left side of the reinforcing flange, although I didn't find it on a couple of them. Also, the interior plate at the base of the spring looks to be gray Parkerized with a flatter locking lug. The interior plate on the Germans looks blued. I found no differences in the followers.

I recently bought 3 -47 mags advertised as made in Hungary. All three are marked 'Made in Hungary' much the same way Century marks weapons they import.

Of the 3, 1 had the '02' stamp, 1 was unmarked, and 1 had a 'M' in a circle.

From the look of your pictures it seems the Polish, E. German, and Bulgarian are better made.  Is this correct?

I think you're right from an appearance standpoint.  The DDR mags are very nicely blued, Polish & Bulgy have a nicely applied black paint-like finish.

Functionally, I haven't had problems with any AK mags.
